The Cloud and Mac
Everybody’s talking about the cloud. What does it mean? And how can you use it?
If you’re storing your files or data on someone else’s computers outside of your home or your office, you’re using a cloud service.
Some examples of cloud services:
- CrashPlan, Mozy, Carbonite backups
- QuickBooks Online
In each of these examples, your data is saved to these companies’ servers. (In some cases you may have copies of the same data on your computer as well.)
The biggest advantage to using the cloud is that you can access to your files from any computer or mobile device — you don’t need to be sitting at your own computer. And you can use cloud services on any platform, whether you’re using Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad, or Android.
